The First Trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

According to the CinemaDrame News Agency, Nintendo and Illumination have released the first official trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, announcing that Brie Larson, known for playing Captain Marvel, voices Rosalina in the film, while Benny Safdie voices Bowser Jr.. The film is a sequel to Universal’s Super Mario Bros. Movie, which grossed over $1 billion two years ago.

Chris Pratt returns as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek. Additional characters and voice actors for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will be announced later.

Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic will direct the film based on a screenplay by Matthew Fogel. Universal Pictures and Nintendo are financing the project.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie became the third highest-grossing animated film in global box office history in 2023, earning $1.36 billion. It made $166.4 million over the three-day Easter weekend, placing second among the highest-grossing films in U.S. history for that weekend, behind Batman v. Superman, which had earned $181 million. After completing its global theatrical run, The Super Mario Bros. Movie reached a net profit of $559 million.

Universal will release The Super Mario Galaxy Movie in the United States on April 3, 2026.
